About Northern Roots Therapy Center

Northern Roots Therapy Center was established to provide an accepting and supportive environment for all individuals in our community. We firmly and passionately believe that every individual who seeks out therapy should be met with kindness and respect, and our staff aim to forge a relationship that feels truly safe. In the therapeutic process, we encourage open conversations between clients and therapists around identity, with attention to how our experiences are informed by our race, gender, sexuality, ability, and other aspects of culture. Our world and the context we live in is ever-changing. With this in mind, we actively seek opportunities to enhance our perspectives and skill sets to meet the needs of a diverse community through in-service trainings and community-centered collaboration. We are proud to welcome individuals of all backgrounds, all genders, and all members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Jeff Bopp, MS, LPC
(He/Him/His)

Jeff’s role as a professional counselor is to assist individuals in improving the quality of their life experience, while reducing psychological suffering.  Common elements in this process might include:  identifying and accessing personal strengths and resources, improving relationships, addressing disruptive patterns of thinking and behaving, processing painful or uncomfortable experiences, and addressing environmental issues or barriers.

Regardless of past experience or present hardship, Jeff is a firm believer in the power of recovery, and that a satisfying and purposeful existence is possible and within reach for all of us.  With a depth of insight and understanding from both personal and professional experience, Jeff is a passionate ally who enjoys teaming up with individuals who are feeling alone, stuck, hopeless, or just confounded by life’s difficulties.

Jeff holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, and a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling, and has been working in the mental health field since 2011.  He began his career working with adolescents in a residential community facility, doubling as a crisis hotline counselor at night.  Over the past ten years Jeff has assisted individuals of all ages, and worked extensively with adolescents and their families.

Jeff individualizes the specific treatment approach and interventions to the unique needs of the client, relying on a collaborative approach built on the foundations of trust and respect, while drawing from the transdiagnostic and evidence-based modalities of: Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
